Great stuff! Reminds me of this one quote from Bernanos’ Diary of a Country Priest: “Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air.”
Thank you for the wise words. A friend of mine recently surrounded his magnificent house with a huge manicured lawn- not a flower, a pebble or a humble weed in sight- just grass, each blade the same as the others. He did not understand my sadness and I was unable to express it properly as I realize it came from my feeling that nature had been driven away and the divine banished.
Dear Gideon, thank you for the joyful memories you share. Beautiful, that endless mystery that becomes visible in the smallest flower, that grows between the cracks of our carefully tiled ideas about what this life is. There, in that not-knowing something very special germinates and its scents are delicious. Thank you, friend!
That's a gorgeous photo and your simple but poignant poem made me think of when Jesus was called a troublemaker by the religious authorities. He came to bring peace but not in the way that was imagined!
