Ah Gideon, I can feel the pain in these words. You’re right, an easy life is a shallow one. And pain is hard but it provides the lessons and contrast that we need to appreciate the beauty around us. I pray that you are able to enjoy the sunrise.
Thank you Gideon. I know when I read something and feel speechless in response...something important happens. Thank you for allowing me to be speechless. Beautiful.
My, this reminds me of Lamentations 3:22-23: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." It becomes so much fuller and richer in meaning when we read the pain and loss in the other chapters. It is the hills and the valleys that give it depth.
I found myself smiling at the honesty of it all, far past the ‘ideal world’ beginnings. “It won’t happen, however—the after—without our attention. We have to, when the time is right, when it is safe, look at the wound; put our our hands amid the sting.” Wholeheartedly agree.
I feel like I’m staring this dissolution in the face, but I’m not quite there yet. The roadmaps and mythic structures from those who have walked the path help give me courage.
Thank-you for this, Gideon, so encouraging, not sure I’ve really faced up to the losses.
It's not an easy thing to do. Or something that follows a straightforward timeline.

My heart grabbed hold of this line- "What it does mean, however, is that there can be an after."🌈 💛
Such wisdom! Thankyou Gideon

Yes. SO glad you didn’t miss this out!! ❤️🩹(with thanks to Richard Rohr!)
Did you know this is what Tolkien disagreed with Disney about? No ‘happily ever after’ without the road to Mordor!
